Amistad de Los Angeles
The Amistad de Los Angeles Community Correctional Re-Entry Facility
provides guidance, training, food and shelter to parolees of the State
of CA Department of Corrections. The urban campus consists of a 4-story
residential building, meeting spaces, offices and kitchen/dining
facilities for 160 residents plus staff.
The Dining Hall Building, constructed as a grocery store in the 1920s,
will have an exposed bow-truss roof and new facade. The outdoor stage
will have a fabric canopy that can be flexible to accommodate a variety
of activities. This provides residents, who have been afforded few
opportunities for choices in their lives, some level of control over
their environment. A central garden will organize the campus and
provide respite from the urban paved environment.
